Where I Worked

Before joining SQL Star,I was Delivery Head at ICUS, an e-learning consultancy company.Prior to this I was DirectorTechnology and Delivery at First E-Learning Quest, a company co-founded by me. My assignment as General Manager with Hero Mindmine, a premier IT Enabled Services Training Company in India, under the banner of Hero - a member of the USD1200Mn Hero Group. As a member of the leadership team, from its inception, I gained a valuable experience that is possible only in a startup.

I was responsible for identifying skills requirement by the IT Enabled Services Industry, build a robust curriculum and a hybrid training methodology standardized for multi location delivery, and build the necessary team required for the training development and delivery and technology infrastructure.
I was instrumental in setting up the Internal Systems and IT infrastructure for all the centers which included finalization of hardware, software, networking etc. and  laid down the operational and quality audit process for the training delivery. Currently, HeroMindmine is leading player in the IT Enabled Service training market and offers entry level training for Call Center Agents at major locations in India.

At NIIT, I was part of the core team that set up NetVarsity; responsible for learning delivery architecture and played a leadership role in creating the instructional model and setting up the operations and services. NetVarsity was the first of its kind in India and one of the first few in the world.  NetVarsity’s success has encouraged NIIT to spin off a separate company in the area of online learning.

I had a wonderful boss in the name of Manmohan Jain, who was fondly known as MJ among the colleagues. He is not only a good mentor but an excellent teacher who has a nag for explaining complex topics in a layman language. My interest and understanding  in technology can be attributed him.

Later I was part of the Centre for Research in Cognitive Systems (CRCS); an application R&D division of NIIT to spearhead the research activities of the division. The focus of research here was to bring out innovations to improve learner and development productivity. During my tenure at  CRCS, I directed a number of projects which resulted in developing software products such as Web Based Performance Assessment Tool, development methodology for test item creation, etc.

Mt stay at CRCS is memorable and has given me a lot of learning. My boss K.K Bhardwaj aka KK is a dynamic person and excellent team builder.  The monthly family get-togethers was something we always look forward to.

National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS), known as National Open School (NOS) then, an open learning institution for K12 segment and vocational education under the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India.  As a Head of the Learning Skills Unit, I was reporting to the Chairman Prof. M. Mukhopadhyay who is a renowned academician and institution builder. I was heading a research and development unit meant for creating innovative  instructional materials that were aimed at developing learning skills among open school students. In addition, I was instrumental in initiating the Introduction of Psychology as a subject at Senior Secondary Level, and lead the curriculum and courseware development; In addition, I was involved in providing consultations  to various State Governments for setting up State level Open Schools and proposal development for the same.

Just after submitting my Ph.D thesis, I joined Centre for Educational Management and Development (CEMD), an NGO specializing in the area of school improvement and educational leadership development activities, as a Programme Officer and reporting to the Executive Director, Ms. Jayshree Oza. I was leading EMRP (Educational Management Resource Programme), funded by Aga Khan Foundation, Geneva, for a group of schools in Delhi. I was actively involved in organizing and conducting various workshops in the area of school management, educational delivery, community participation, and other school improvement aspects.

I feel proud to be one of the initial team member of the CEMD and have learned from an evolving organization. CEMD was a closely-knit team that lead by Jayshree Oza, who was admired for her networking and organizational abilities. My stay at CEMD is memorable for the learning opportunity it provided and the excellent open culture we had.

I had my hands-on experience in consensus building and team development at CEMD, which I use regularly in my work life.

Before joining FMS as a doctoral candidate, I was part of the research team on a project titled "Management of Educational Change" in National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA),  which introduced me to the field of management research. I was lucky to  have worked with  Prof. M. Mukhopadhyay who played the role of my mentor and guru.
Just immediately after completing my post graduation, I had brief stint in sales with Precision Data Products Pvt. Ltd. and selling IBM punch cards, continuous stationary and allied products in the IT domain. During my studies I did have had some exposure in the hospitality and customer care industry through summer jobs.
